VCRTA Volunteering Efforts In 2020

Members of the Vigo County Retired Teachers Association volunteer throughout the entire year and at a number of locations throughout the county.  We are going to use this page to highlight the volunteering efforts of our members in 2020.

Check back periodically to see new volunteering activities in the community and don’t forget to send in your “Volunteering Selfies” to VCRTA.

This year is starting off as great as the last year ended.  No matter if our members are providing a helpful service to current Vigo County School Corporation employees that are considering retirement by hosting the annual Retirement Planning Workshop, or donating magazines that are collected at our luncheons to local area hospital ICU waiting rooms in order to provide some needed distraction to worried loved ones, our members continue to step up to serve the community.

VCRTA had a small group of members join in to repackage diapers for a local non-profit diaper bank (Covered With Love, Inc.) that will be provided to needy parents in the region.  Some of our members volunteer to clean up neighborhoods in the community as part of a local “Society of Trash Baggers” group.  A number of VCRTA members support the Educational Heritage Association, a local non-profit organization that is preserving educational items from Vigo County, by either serving on the board or working in the association’s museum showroom.

Our members also volunteer for the “Night To Shine” prom for special needs persons in our community.  The “Night To Shine” prom is a yearly Tim Tebow sponsored event.
